Motocross

First of all, thanks for the committee input and sharing with us their great photos. Especially thanks for Wing – organise the photo event for this round.

After my business trip, I went to attend a photo event organised by a web site on last Sunday – the topic is Motocross. This Motocross event is just a practice session and not a competition. Therefore, the Motocross players are a bit relax and do not show us their full power.

My camera / lenses are having dusts after this event and I spend a bit of time to clean my gears. For this time, I use my Canon EOS1DMKIII, 24-105f4 and 70-200f2.8.

More photos can be found in my album:

Regional Operations Conference 2009

We have this every beginning of the year, but this year did it in slightly different way. The agenda this year focus more on the upcoming changes for the Operations team and the moving forward plans.

The Conference having more discussion sessions this years between the team members and the HODs. This concept encourage team members to speak up their opinions and concerns on the new changes ahead.

Feedback have been discussed and summarised openly, I guess this will keep HODs busying for whole year. Let's work together towards the same goal.

My 1st Experience of Speedlite 580EX II

Sorry guys, did hear from me for long. Other than daily works, I'm also busy with my other 2 toys blog, www.toycarsmy.com and www.hwcmalaysia.com

Back to topic, William lend me his 580EX speedlite for the regional operations event, that was my 1st time hooked up the external flash light to my camera (1st time gone to him).

The experience for the flash light is fantastic, it allows me take photo at lower ISO and higher shutter speed, yet produced a satisfied photo.

This is photo, the flash was fired to the back, and the light just soft to highlight the outline of the features. Who is this in the picture? Is my daughter Celeste.

Still lot to learn, but 1st have to get myself a 580EX, RM1,500++, it's ain't cheap to buy.

Canon EOS5D MKII

I just upgrade my Canon 5D to 5D MKII recently. Attached are some pictures taken by 5D MKII. So far, my comment on 5D MKII:

The things I like:
- Picture quality are in the top class
- Very good noise control in High ISO performance (e.g. ISO3200)
- Anti-dust CMOS sensor -- this is useful
- Auto ISO - sometimes, it is useful to produce a sharper image (the camera will change to higher ISO to maintain higher shutter speed)
- Excellent movie quality!

The improvement areas for 5DMKII:
- more AF points (now, only 9 AF points and located at the centre part of focusing screen!)
- built-in flash (Nikon D700 have this!)
- more number of frame per second
- better AF in liveview mode

After getting 5D MKII, I am thinking to upgrade my PC at home. Now, my PC is not fast enough to process the RAW file & Video by 5DMKII. Need to save money >_<

Enjoy!

Two Kingfishers in Bishan Park

Last week, I revisited the reserviour where I photographed the White-Bellied Sea Eagle hoping to get more pictures but it was no where to be found. I was disappointed and was walking home through a park opposite my flat (Bishan Park) when I saw a white-throated kingfisher perched on the railing beside a monsoon drain so I quickly took out my camera and started photographing it. Moment later another kingfisher came into my frame and now I have two kingfishers!

In life, we may not always find what we set out to seek but occasionally we may be awarded with some other good things. So do not let your disappointment pull you down. Who knows, there may be a pot of gold waiting for you at the end of the rainbow. Stay cheerful always and learn to live life to the fullest!

Here are some pictures of the two kingfishers to share with you. As usual I'm using my birding camera equipment - Canon 40D, 100-400mm lens, 580II flash.
